DUSHANBE, February 10, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Deposits in branches of Agroinvestbonk in Khatlon’s Kulob region rose more than twice in a year to January 1, 2012, reaching 30.887 million somoni, Sayfiddin Qadamov, the head of Agroinvestbonk’s head branch in Kulob, told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon.
“As of January 1, 2011, deposits in Agroinvestbonk’s branches in Kulob amounted to only 14.236 million somoni,” Qadamov said, noting that the number of depositors increased over the report period from 1,653 to 3,035 people.
Open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk is the second largest commercial bank in Tajikistan. Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 61 other branches across the country.
Agroinvestbonk is one of the leading providers of finance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and the agricultural sector in Tajikistan. Through its substantial rural network it reaches out beyond the capital Dushanbe, to areas where access to finance remains difficult for private entrepreneurs.
