DUSHANBE, September 3, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Over the first eight months of this year, Tajik grain growers have produced some 700,000 tons of cereals, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

An official source at a MoA says an average grain yield over the report period stood at 2.78 tons per hectare that this year.

“This year, Tajik farmers have planted cereals on nearly 250,000 hectares,” the source said, adding that 69 grain harvester combines have been involved in the grain-harvesting campaign this year.

315,400 hectares were allocated last year for grain cultivation and 891,500 tons of cereals were produced in Tajikistan in 213.
