DUSHANBE, September 10, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Tajik grain growers have produced more than 711,000 tons of cereals from more than 265,000 hectares by September 8, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
An official source at a MoA says an average grain yield stood at 2.73 tons per hectare.
“This year, some 292,000 hectares have been allocated in Tajikistan for grain growing,” the source said, adding that 69 grain harvester combines have been involved in the grain-harvesting campaign this year.
315,400 hectares were allocated last year for grain cultivation and 891,500 tons of cereals were produced in Tajikistan in 2013.
