DUSHANBE, September 18, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Over the first eight months of this year, Tajikistan’s cotton fiber exports have fallen 45 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In January-August this year, Tajikistan has reportedly exported 37,600 tons of cotton fiber to the amount of 65 million U.S. dollars, which is 45 percent fewer than in the same period last year.

Over the report period, Tajikistan has exported cotton fiber to tend countries, including three CIS nations.

In January-August this year, the major trading partners to Tajikistan’s cotton fiber were Turkey – 13,100 tons; Pakistan – 8,500 tons; Russia – 6,700 tons; Iran – 6,500 tons; the United Arab Emirates – 980 tons; Belarus – 688 tons; China – 430 tons; Latvia – 258 tons, Hong Kong – 185 tons; and Armenia – 35 tons.

In 2013, Tajikistan exported 115,000 tons of cotton fiber to the amount of 190 million U.S. dollars.  In 2012, Tajikistan exported 144,000 tons of cotton fiber to the amount of 224 million U.S. dollars.
