DUSHANBE, October 14, 2014, Asia-Plus -- An international economic and business forum formally titled “Dushanbe 2014: Entrepreneurship – Mover of Progress” is expected to take place in Dushanbe tomorrow, according to the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).
The event that will take place at the National Library will bring together representatives from the Tajik government, international financial institutions, local and foreign entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of civil society and media, an official source at GosKomInvest told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The main objective of the forum is in promoting improvement of investment climate in the country, attraction of investment for development of Tajikistan’s economy and establishment of cooperation between domestic and foreign entrepreneurs as well as facilitating exchange of information and experience between domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is expected to inaugurate the forum.
According to the report posted on the Ukrainian MFA website, the international economic forum entitled “Rasht Valley – Development Opportunities” took place in Rahst region (eastern Tajikistan) on September 25-26, 2014. Forum participants were reportedly addressed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Sharif Rahimzoda. Heads of five districts of Rasht Valley – Rasht, Nourobod, Jirgatal, Tavildara and Tojikobod – presented their reports of regional development prospects. Representatives of business circles and entrepreneurs exchanged views on opportunities of implementation of investment projects.
Speaking at the forum, Ukrainian Ambassador to Tajikistan Viktor Nikitiuk reportedly confirmed Ukraine’s readiness to further enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with Tajikistan, emphasized that recently signed Association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union opens new opportunities for promoting Central Asian goods in European market.
The Forum was also attended by the Ambassador of Belarus, heads of UN and OSCE offices, Charge D’affaires of Iran, other representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations active in Tajikistan.
