DUSHANBE, October 21, 2014, Asia-plus -- According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, Tajikistan’s wheat imports over the first nine months of this year have risen more than 22 percent compared to January-September 2013.
In January-September this year, Tajikistan has reportedly imported nearly 500,000 tons of wheat, which is 22.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
In January-September 2013, Tajikistan imported 408,000 tons of wheat.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s flour imports in January-September this year have fallen 15 percent compared to the same period last year.
Over the first nine months of this year Tajikistan has imported more than 125,000 tons of wheat flour while over the same period last year, Tajikistan imported 148,000 tons of wheat flour.
Kazakhstan and Russia provide the bulk of Tajikistan’s wheat and flour imports.
