DUSHANBE, November 7, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan has fulfilled the 2014 coal production target, which has been determined at 700,000 tons of coal.

Over the first ten months of this year, Tajik coal-producing enterprises have produced more than 710,000 tons of coal, which is 262,000 tons more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

678,000 tons of coal have been delivered over the same ten-month period, which is 300,000 tons more than in January-October last year.

More than 160 coal-fired enterprises now operate in Tajikistan.

“To-date, more than 56,000 tons of coal have been stored in warehouses, storehouses of industrial enterprises and coal-selling outlets,” an official source at a MoINT told Asia-Plus in an interview.  

Current price for one ton for Tajik opencast coal fluctuates from 80 to 200 somoni while current price for one ton of Tajik underground coal is 450 somoni.

Eighteen coal-producing enterprises now operate at fourteen coal deposits in Tajikistan.  In 2013, they produced 518,000 tons of coal, which was 25 percent more than in 2012.  Coal sales increased from 424,000 tons in 2012 to 482,000 tons in 2013.  

Fon-Yaghnob Mine is Tajikistan’s largest coal-producing enterprise.
