DUSHANBE, November 17, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe mayor’s office is taking measures to curb further rise in basic food prices at the city’s markets.
This issue was discussed at a November 14 meeting, presided over by Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.
“By mayor’s order farm produce fairs are taking place at the Poytakht-90 complex beginning on November 15, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the mayor also ordered directors of Shohmansour, Sakhovat, Dehqon and Qariyai Bolo bazaars to control personally receipt and sale of farm produce.
“Besides, the Dushanbe Finance Department will provide an interest-free loan to the State Unitary Enterprise for Purchase and Sale of the Necessities,” Saidov said.
We will recall that a sudden spike in the exchange rate of the dollar against the Tajik national currency, the dollar, has led to increase in the prices of basic food products in the city.
