DUSHANBE, November 18, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsid Ubaidulloyev yesterday held a meeting to discuss adequate measures to saturate city’s markets with the necessities, make preparations for winter, and prevent artificial rise in prices of basic food products.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says the meeting participants included heads of Dushanbe’s districts, directors of local bazaars and senior representatives of the State Unitary Enterprise for Purchase and Sale of the Necessities.
The mayor reportedly demanded at the meeting that they take all necessary measures to prevent spontaneous price rises at Dushanbe’s markets.
The mayor also ordered the Dushanbe Finance Department to allocate funds from the city budget to provide interest-free loans for sale of goods of first priority from the regions, Saidov said.
We will recall that a sudden spike in the exchange rate of the dollar against the Tajik national currency, the dollar, has led to increase in the prices of basic food products in the city.
