DUSHANBE, November 18, 2014, Asia-Plus -- According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, Tajikistan’s wheat imports over the first ten months of this year have risen more than 20 percent compared to January-October 2013.

In January-October this year, Tajikistan has reportedly imported nearly 605,000 tons of wheat, which is 104,000 tons more than in the same period last year.

In January-October 2013, Tajikistan imported 501,000 tons of wheat.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s flour imports in January-October this year have fallen almost 19 percent compared to the same period last year.

Over the first ten months of this year Tajikistan has imported some 145,000 tons of wheat flour while over the same period last year, Tajikistan imported 148,000 tons of wheat flour.

Last month, Tajikistan reportedly imported some 20,000 tons of wheat flour and 105,000 tons of wheat.

Kazakhstan and Russia provide the bulk of Tajikistan’s wheat and flour imports.
