DUSHANBE, November 26, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Khoburabot Pass (3,252 meters above sea level) in the Darvoz district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), linking the province with Dushanbe through the Tavildara district in Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan) has been closed for traffic.
An official source at the Ministry of Transport (MoT) says the pass was closed for traffic on November 25 following heavy snows in the area.
“The pass will be opened for traffic only in mid-May next year,” said the source. “An automobile communication between Dushanbe and Gorno Badakhshan is now carried out via Kulob: Dushanbe-Kulob-Shouroobod-Darvoz-Khorog highway.”
