Uzbekistan intends to re-launch bus transportation to Kyrgyzstan through the Tajik northern Sughd province.  In an agreement with Tajik authorities, this passenger route is expected to work in the near future.

Uzbekistan’s website to discuss draft regulatory documents says Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan intend to re-launch the Tashkent-Osh bus service.

According to the draft president decree on development of tourism and pilgrimage, Uzbekistan, in an agreement with Tajik authorities, plans to re-launch the Tashkent-Osh bus service through the Tajik northern Sughd province in the near future for the purpose of developing tourism.

Passenger traffic between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was discontinued in March last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The previous mode of operation of the border crossing points (BCPs) along the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border was restored on September 1, 2020, but the bus transportation between the countries is still closed.

Meanwhile, the mentioned draft decree of the Uzbek president also provides for launching bus services between the Uzbek cities of Samarqand, Bukhara, Tashkent and Termez and the Tajik cities of Khujand and Dushanbe.
