On Saturday August 28, President Emomali Rahmon together with Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali attended a presentation ceremony of express (intercity) buses Akia Oriyo assembled at a joint Tajik-Turkish plant assembling Turkish buses Akia, AKIA AVESTO.

The plant began assembling express in 2020, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The enterprise also assembles double-decker buses, buses running on liquefied natural gas (LNG), trolleybuses and electric buses.

The Tajik president’s official website says the new experimental electric bus of modern design can cover up to 200 kilometers in a single charge.

Recall, AKIA AVESTO was officially introduced into operation in Dushanbe on February 14, 2018.  The plant that was built in Dushanbe’s Gulbuta area reportedly operates on the basis of an investment agreement signed between the Government of Tajikistan, Avesto Group Ltd (Tajikistan) and Turkey’s Ulasim Ic Ve Dis Ticaret Anonim Sirketi.

All necessary technologies and equipment for implementation of this project have been delivered to the country from Turkey.  The plant reportedly has an annual capacity of 300 vehicles.

Ulasim Ic Ve Dis Ticaret Anonim Sirketi is an enterprise located in Turkey, with the main office in Istanbul.  The enterprise operates in the Automobile and Other Motor Vehicle Merchant Wholesalers industry.  It was incorporated on November 14, 2014.
