Tajikistan pavilion has opened at EXPO 2020, which officially kicked off in Dubai, the Arab United Emirates (AUE) on September 30. 

Tajikistan pavilion that opened at this World Expo on October 1 reportedly highlights water and its life-nurturing role.

The pavilion opening ceremony was attended by  Mr. Jamshed Jumakhonzda, Head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Mr. Bahodour Sharifi, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Mr. Ilhom Abdurhmonzoda, General Consul of Tajikistan in Dubai, Mr. Andre Dorado, Andre Dorado, Director of the Department of International Participants, EXPO 2020, Ms. Maryam Amiri, Director of the Marketing and Communications Department Expo 2020.Mr. Odil Sangov, Director of Tajikistan Pavilion, as well as representatives of Tajikistan’s diplomatic corps and representatives of countries participating in the exhibition.  

Tajikistan pavilion consists of elements of national architecture and nature photography of Tajikistan, a waterfall decorated against the background of mountains, and gather in a Tapchan, a handmade wooden gazebo decorated with national carving elements.

Expo 2020 is a World Expo, currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Originally scheduled for October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly in Paris named Dubai as the host on November 27, 2013.

The Expo 2020 opening ceremony featured performances by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli ("The Prayer"), British singer Ellie Goulding ("Anything Could Happen"), Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo and Saudi singer Mohammed Abdu (a duet of John Legend's "If You're Out There"), American singer Andra Day ("Rise Up"), and Chinese pianist Lang Lang, among others.  The opening declaration was made by the Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The expo has a theme called “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”  The expo also has three subthemes: opportunity, mobility, and sustainability, each with its own pavilion.
