, June 29, Asia-Plus - A two-seat one-engine Yak-52 plane crashed in Tajikistan during a training flight on June 28.

According to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the accident took place in the mountain area, some 30 kilometers to the west of Dushanbe .  Fayzullo Latipov, the head of the MES chief staff, says the plane belonged to the country’s defense and sport society. One of pilots, Shokir Kenjayev, died and the other one, Sulton Jalilov, was hospitalized in critical condition. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation.  In the meantime, according to witnesses, the plane was flying from the Fakhrobod pass to the Hissor district, where it was supposed to take part in a planned exercise of the MES scheduled for June 30.  According to preliminary information, the plane got caught in a high-voltage line while ascending and crashed on the ground.
