DUSHANBE, July 24, Asia-plus -- Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) has provided assistance to disaster-hit population in the Rasht and Asht districts.
Madina Sayfiddinova, information officer, RCS head office in Dushanbe, told Asia-Plus that 100 plastic sheets, 17 tents, 100 kits of kitchen utensils, 200, blankets, 150 pillows, 100 mattresses and other relief supplies provided by the IFRC as well as 220 sacks of clothing provided by the Swedish Red Cross were sent to the Rasht district yesterday.
According to her, RCS’s branch in Rasht has also provided assistance to the quake-hit population in the district.
The RCS information officer said that RCS had also provided assistance to the flood-affected residents of the Oshoba jamoat in the northern district of Asht.
Local and international non-government organizations are also providing assistance to disaster-hit districts, Sayfiddinova said.
