DUSHANBE, December 26, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against Qurbonali Ghiyosov, the driver of minibus that was involved in Monday’s fatal traffic accident in Dushanbe.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Qurbonali Ghiyosov faces charges under Article 212, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code (gross violation of traffic regulations causing death of two and more persons)
We will recall that at least nine persons were killed and three others were seriously injured Monday afternoon as fixed-route taxi (minibus) # 16 carrying 17 passengers collided with a diesel locomotive at the gate crossing in Dushanbe’s Sino district, Nurullo Huvaidulloyev Street. As a result of the collision nine persons, including three minors, were killed and eight others received various injuries and four of them were hospitalized.
The source at a MoI said that the minibus driver had tried to cross the railroad bed, and his negligence was the direct cause of death of nine persons.
Ghiyosov has been arrested and the transportation prosecutor’s office is investigating the accident.
