KHUAJND, May 27, Asia-Plus -- Torrential rain on May 26 caused mudslide that partially damaged a number of houses in the Kansai settlement, not far from the northern Tajik city of Qairoqqum, according to the Sughd emergency management agency.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Sughd emergencies official said that the mudslide had also damaged a warehouse of the Aprelevka joint venture, which is engaged in mining gold in the Sughd province.
No injured was reported, according to the source. A special commission is currently working in the area to assess the actual volume of damage caused to the settlement by the disaster.
