KULOB, May 28, Asia-Plus -- Another person was detained in Kulob yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in Tuesday’s firefight in the city, the Kulob prosecutor Nasrullo Mahmoudov told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, alleged member of Suhrob Langariyev ring was detained yesterday evening during combing the area after completion of the operation on detention of Suhrob Langariyev and his supporters. The prosecutor added that his name is not disclosed “in the interest of investigation.”
He further added that two Afghans that had been detained during the operation had been identified as Habibrahmon valadi Sultonnazar and Ghulomciddiq valadi Amirmahamd.
Mahmoudov noted that that the law enforcement agencies had taken all necessary measures to minimize the number of possible victims during the operation. “Langariyev’s farther and other relatives were involved in negotiations with Suhrob Langariyev and his supporters; however, the negotiations failed and the power-wielding structures had to take extreme measures, the prosecutor said.
He also noted that the Kulob mayor yesterday visited families of the 49-year-old Anvar Avazov and the 53-year-old Umed Zohirov who had been killed by stray bullets during the operation to express condolences hand over financial aid on behalf of the city’s administration. .
