KHUJAND, June 18, Asia-Plus -- A complex inspection of preparedness of sub-divisions of the emergency management agency to reduce disaster risk and mitigate disaster effects has began in northern Tajikistan, Khodoyberdi Qodirberdiyev, chief of staff of the Sughd emergency management agency, said in an interview with Asia-Plus .
According to him, they are inspecting activities of the disaster warning, disaster response and disaster management services as well as 14 other services, which are usually involved in operations to prevent disasters and mitigate disaster effects.
“A drill to rehearse coordination and interaction among services in the event of natural disaster will be held in the Bobojonghafurov district tomorrow,” said the Sughd emergencies official. “Besides, work on rehabilitation of flood protection embankment along the Khoja Boqirgon River will start that will allow reducing economic losses by floods in the district.”
