DUSHANBE, September 30, 2008, Asia-Plus -- We cannot be indifferent to the fate of Tajik woman who attempts to commit self-immolation in front of the building of the Pakistani Government in Islamabad, Davlat Nazriyev, head of the MFA information department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus today.
Tajik woman Fotima-bibi attempts to commit self-immolation in protest for not getting any justice, the spokesman said.
According to details, Fotima-bibi left Tajikistan for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 1992, where she married Pakistani national and took Pakistani citizenship. Later, she and her husband moved to Pakistan, where a daughter was born to them.
“In early September, her husband took the daughter and went in unknown direction; search has not yielded any results and the ill-fated woman decided to commit self-immolation,” Nazriyev said, noting that MFA ordered the Tajik Embassy in Islamabad to look into the situation and provide support to Fotima-bibi.
“According to information received, Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is ready to receive Fotima-bibi today and provide support to her in searching for her daughter,” the spokesman said.
