KULOB, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 123 traffic accidents were reported in Khatlon’s Kulob group of districts in 2008, which is seven cases more than in 2007, deputy chief of the Khatlon traffic police department in charge of the Kulob region, Colonel Talbi Safarov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, 62 persons (16 persons more than in 2007) were killed and 145 (five persons more than in 2007) others were injured in those accidents.
“Compared to 2007 the number of vehicles increased in the region by 6,000 last year,” Safarov said.
