DUSHANBE, March 30, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A three-year-old baby boy, Mahmadali Ghiyosov, was killed in a house fire that occurred in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province on March 27, according to the main firefighting service within the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
“The fire broke out in home and then spread to a car with the baby in it that was standing in the yard,” said the source, “His farther who rushed to rescue Mahmadali sustained serious injures and was taken to the city hospital with second-degree burns covering some 25 percent of his body.”
According to the firefighting service, the fire also spread to the next residential house due to a strong wing and destroyed homestead and minibus. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
In all, 25 fires were reported in the country last week. Damage caused by those fires totaled 51,000 somoni.
