KULOB, May 15, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Yesterday’s downpour damaged the library at Kulob State University.
Vice-chancellor of Kulob State University Mahmadullo Ibodov told Asia-Plus today that the library (some 25,000 books) had earlier been placed in basement of the Faculty of Marketing and Management.
“Recently, the library was transferred to another building and some 15 percent of books were not yet put on the shelves. These books were damaged by flooding,” Ibodov said, noting that there are no adequate pumps in the city to evacuate water from the building. Students are forced to remove water by pails.
