KULOB, May 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A special banking accounting has been opened in the branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in Kulob for collection of funds to provide assistance to the mudslide-hit residents of the Khuroson district in Khatlon.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Kulob Mayor Homid Abdulloyev noted that Kulobis proposed to use the collected funds for construction of residential buildings for people that had been left homeless. “I think we will able to construct at least two residential buildings for the disaster-hit people in Khuroson,” the mayor said.
According to the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob Abdukarim Nematov, their employees have decided to remit 2,000 somoni to the fundraising account.
