KHOROG, June 17, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 13 traffic accidents have been registered in Gorno Badakhshan since the beginning of this year, according to the GBAO police directorate. Eight persons have been killed and twelve others have been injured in those 13 traffic accidents.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Muzofirsho Zolshoyev, a spokesman for the GABO police directorate, said that the latest traffic accident took place in the Bidroghi area in the Darvoz district on June 15.
“Two persons were killed on Monday as heavy truck KAMAZ fell over a 90-meter precipice into the Panj River,” said Zolshoyev, “The body of the passenger – the 40-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Bokhtar district Karimjon Mamadvaliyev – was found the same day while operation in search for the body of the driver Abdujalil Mutolibov, who was also resident of the Bokhtar district, is continuing.” The cause of the accident is under investigation.
