KHUJAND, June 24, 2009, Asia-Plus - Training to build disaster response capacity of deaf-and-dumb people of the northern Sughd province will start in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province in early July this year. The training will be conducted by the Khujand-based public association Amal.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Amal chairperson Maya Hoshimova said the training would be conducted in the framework of the project aimed at rising awareness of responding to disasters for deaf and hearing-impaired people. The project is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
“The project was launched in April and similar training was already conducted at the boarding school for deaf-and-dumb children in the Bobojonghafruov district,” Hoshimova said, noting that in all, some 460 people would be involved in the training.
