DUSHANBE, August 19, Asia-Plus  -- A major fire that broke at two fuel oil reservoirs in the west of Dushanbe today afternoon was put out in an hour and no injured was reported, Colonel Mahmadsaid Karimov, the chief of the firefighting service within the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Asia-Plus.

According to him, they received call about the fire at the fuel oil reservoirs that are rented by China’s construction company, China Road, at 12:46 and the first six firefighting crews came to the fire site already at 12:56.  “In all, 15 firefighting crews and two water carriers were involved in extinguishing the blaze,” said Karimov, “They put out the fire at 13:58 and no injured was reported.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  “According to the preliminary investigation, the fire was caused by violation of safety requirements for working with fuel oil,” said the firefighting service chief, “The blaze enveloped the space of more than 2,000 square meters; firefighter managed to salvage more than 2,000 tons of fuel oil.”
