DUSHANBE, January 28, Asia-Plus -- Three persons were injured Wednesday as a mudslide occurred at the site for construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP), reliable source at the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, torrential rain and snowfalls on January 27 caused a mudslide in the area of the entrance to bypass tunnel # 1 of the Roghun HPP. “The disaster occurred in the evening, at about 8:00 pm,” said the source, “Three builders – Mirzomiddin Joniyev, Shamsiddin Ghafforov and Saidraqib Boyev received various injuries.”
They were taken to the first-aid post at the site for Roghun HPP; Joniyev and Boyev were prescribed outpatient treatment, while Ghafforov, who received more serious injuries, was taken to the central hospital in the city of Roghun.
