DUSHANBE, January 29, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Heavy snowfalls on January 28 caused an avalanche that hit the Maikhoura area, 61 kilometers north of Dushanbe, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES).
No human casualties were reported, the source at a CES said, noting that the highway from Dushanbe to Khujand is temporarily closed for traffic and people are being advised not to travel unnecessarily.
