DUSHANBE, April 24, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Murod Jourayev, the head of the State Committee fore Supervision of Safety of Work in Industry and Mining, revealed on April 23 that two persons have been killed and at least four others have been injured in accidents on construction sites in the country over the first quarter of this year.

According to him, two persons were killed and one other was injured on the Roghun site because of non-observance of safety standards.

“The Committee specialists and experts permanently monitor the situation on the Roghun site and record instances of violation of the safety rules,” said Jourayev, “Besides, the Committee submits quarterly reports on the process of construction of this facility to the President and the Government.”

“In all, three accidents have been registered on the country’s construction sites over the report period, noted Jourayev, “Two persons have been killed and four others have been injured in those accidents.”

He added that the Committee specialists were conducting special seminars on safety rules for the Roghun builders within the limits of the possible.

Besides, 10 instances of violation of the safety standards have been recorded over the report period on the site for construction of the Sangtuda-2 station.  “Those violations were inconsiderable and all shortcomings were removed opportunely,” Jourayev noted.
