KULOB, May 5, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Heavy rains on the nigh of May 4-5 caused flooding that affected 71 households in the city and the district of Kulob, the Kulob emergencies official Orzou Hasanov told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, 50 houses were affected in the city of Kulob and 21 others were partially damaged by flooding in the Kulob district.
The Kulob mayor’s office held an extraordinary meeting today to discuss measures to mitigate effects of the disaster and provide assistance to the disaster-hit population.
Hasanov added that damage caused by heavy rains and mudflows that hit the city and the district of Kulob last month was estimated at almost 50 million somoni.
