KULOB, May 7, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Gas supplies were disrupted to the city of Kulob on May 5 as an accident occurred on the Baljuvon gas pipeline.
According to Khairullo Habibulloyev, the director of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Kulobgaz (Kulob natural-gas distributor), a powerful mudflow swept some 300 meters of the gas pipeline. “Therefore, we were forced to cut off gas supplies to the city of Kulob,” he said, adding that the government commission from Dushanbe arrived to closely monitor the situation.
