DUSHANBE, September 18, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- An earthquake of quite a strong intensity, measuring 4.0-5.0 on a 12-point scale, was felt in Dushanbe in the early hours of Saturday, at 00.21 am, according to the Dushanbe seismology station.

The source says the earthquake was centered on Afghan territory, 320 kilometers southeast of Dushanbe, and in the epicenter, the intensity of the tremor was 5.0-6.0 on the 12-point scale.

The earthquake could be felt in other regions of Tajikistan as well.  In Rasht Valley, the intensity of the tremor was 4.0 and in Gorno Badakhshan, the intensity of the quake was 4.0-5.0.

The earthquake reportedly lasted for 40 seconds and two shocks were registered.  No injured or damage was reported, according to the source.
