QURGHON TEPPA, April 5, 2011, Asia-Plus -- 75 traffic accidents reported in Khatlon province over the first three months of this year have left 35 dead and 86 more injured, Yormahmad Davlatov, a spokesman for the Khatlon traffic police department, said.
According to him, the main cause of accidents registered in the province over the report period is exceeding the speed limit.
The Khatlon traffic department police have held various events to prevent traffic accidents. Officers from the Interior Ministry traffic police directorate in cooperation with local traffic police officers are currently carrying out a joint operation in the area to inspect legality of tinted glasses used by local drivers, the spokesman said.
