In the Spitamen district of Sughd province, a 32-year-old driver knocked down a pedestrian and escaped, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
After that, a 22-year-old man reportedly ran his Tico into already lying pedestrian and also escaped. The pedestrian died on the spot
The accident took place in the Gulakandoz jamoat at about 11:30 pm of March 2, 2017.
Both drivers have been detained and criminal proceedings have been instituted against them; an investigation is under way.
According to statistical data from the Interior Ministry, 1,323 traffic accidents were reported in Tajikistan last year. 427 people were killed and 1,415 other were injured in those accidents. .
