Torrential rains on June 1 and 2 caused a series of mudslides and floods in the country that caused serious damage to some districts.  In Khuroson district, a young man was killed by a mudslide.   

According to the Emergencies Committee, torrential rain on June 2 caused a mudslide in the Mehnatobod village of Khuroson district in Khatlon province.  An 18-year-old local resident was reportedly killed by the mudslide.

Eighteen homestead lands in the village were damaged by the mudslide, Umeda Yusufi, a spokeswoman for the Emergencies Committee, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to her, the disaster also damaged the bridge connecting the village to the Bokhtar-Dushanbe highway.   

Torrential rain on June 1 caused mudslides in Roudaki district that damaged 70 homestead lands in the village of Obi Shifo.  Besides eight residential buildings were partially damaged.  No injured was reported, according to Yusufi.
