Kyrgyz foreign ministry yesterday summoned Tajikistan Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nazirmad Alizoda to hand him a note containing the extreme concern of the Kyrgyz side about the illegal actions of the Tajik competent authorities who abducted two Kyrgyz citizens -- residents of Leilek district of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan – on April 24, the Kyrgyz MFA press service says.
The Kyrgyz side called on the Tajik side to take immediate measures to clarify the circumstances of the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice and inform the Kyrgyz side of the results.
Kabar news agency says that earlier, video reports about the missing of two Kyrgyz nationals along the border with Tajikistan were posted on Internet.
Kyrgyzstan’s State Border Service reported that information was received on April 24 from a resident of Beshkent village of Leilek district about missing of her two 19-year-old children. According to the woman, the boys were engaged in construction work in Say area.
In order to clarify the information on this fact, Kyrgyz border representatives met with their Tajik colleagues.
Later, the Tajik side reportedly handed two citizens over to the Kyrgyz authorities. One of the abductees said that they had been attacked at night by the military of the neighboring country, Kabar says.
