DUSHANBE , January 5, Asia-Plus - Three residents of the northern town Istaravshan have been detained in Spitamen District ( Sughd Province ) on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.    

According to information from the Interior Ministry’s department for combating drug trafficking (drug police), those three persons were detained after the law enforcement officers searching their truck “KAMAZ” loaded with potatoes found two packets containing 1.874 kilograms of heroin.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detainees; investigation is under way.
