DUSHANBE, February 8, Asia-Plus -- Military Board of Tajikistan’s Supreme Court has completed consideration of criminal proceedings Tojiddin Abdurrahmonov, resident of Hissor district and former opposition member, and passed a verdict against him.
Head of the Supreme Court’s Military Board, Sayfullo Giyoyev, has told Asia-Plus that the court yesterday sentenced Tojiddin Abdurrahmonov to sixteen years’ imprisonment. The sentence followed his conviction on charges of killing, participation in criminal group, and illegally acquiring weapons and explosives, illegally crossing border, etc.
In the Nineties, the military prosecutor’s office instituted criminal proceedings against him and a number of other persons who allegedly took special training in Iran but in 1997, when amnesty was granted to for opposition militants, criminal cases against Abdurrahmonov was dropped.
