DUSHANBE , May 11, Asia-Plus - The circumstances of death of Sadullo Marupov, an activist of Tajikistan ’s Islamic Revival Party in Isfara (IRPT), remain unclear, Tajik chief prosecutor Bobojon Bobokhonov remarked at a telephone news conference today answering the question by the “Asia-Plus” news agency.

“We have still to establish whether the detained officers from the Sughd police department are really involved in the death of the IRPT activist or not,” said Bobokhonov, “It is not allowed yet to say with confidence whether it was suicide, driving to suicide or murder.”

We will recall that three officers from the Sughd police department have been taken into custody over the death of Sadullo Marupov.  The three officers had detained 45-year-old Sadullo Marupov, a member of the Islamic Revival Party, on May 3 for questioning.  They later claimed that Marupov killed himself by jumping from the third floor of the Isfara police directorate.
