DUSAHNBE, September 5, Asia-Plus - Monday afternoon, President Emomali Rahmonov attended a ceremony of opening of children’s TV channel “Bahoriston” in Dushanbe.
Congratulating the channel’s staffers, Rahmonov noted that opening of the children’s TV channel was one of more significant achievements reached since the country gained its independence. “This channel will be another step towards broadening range of interests of children and will play an important role in patriotic education of the rising generation,” Rahmonov noted.
The “Bahoriston” channel is placed in a building near the House of Radio in the Chapayev Street. The building houses 10 working offices and three large studios. The new TV channel has 135 staffers, and it is supposed to air six-eight hours a day – from 8:00 to 12:00 in the morning, and from 16:00 to 20:00 in the evening.
The new channel is supposed to broadcast educational and entertaining programs and children’s movies. The “Bahoriston” channel will mainly broadcast in Tajik, but also a part of programs will be in Russian. In future, they plan to launch programs in English as well.

Asadullo Rahmonov, Chairman of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting noted that at present programs of the children’s TV channels could be picked up in Dushanbe, Sughd Khatlon provinces, and some districts subordinate to the center. “At present, programs of the “Bahoriston” channel can be picked up by some 50 percent of the country’s population, but we plan to extend the channels’ broadcasting range in future,” Asadullo Rahmonov said, adding that they also consider the possibility of organizing satellite broadcasts of the “Bahoriston” channel to other countries.
