DUSHANBE, March 6, Asia-Plus – Over the first two months of this year, officers from the GBAO anticorruption directorate have revealed more than 1.3 million somonis (TJS) worth of damage caused to the region’s economy by the corruption-related crimes.
The GBAO anticorruption directorate chief Yusuf Nazrishoyev noted that over the report period, criminal proceedings have been instituted against nine persons, including seven officials, on corruption charges.
“Thus, criminal proceedings have been instituted against a chief accountant of the Barvoz jamoat in the Roshtqala district, who is charged with misappropriating more than 50,000 somonis,” said Nazrishoyev, “Investigation of his case has been completed and moved to a court.”
He further added that since the beginning of 2007 criminal proceedings on corruption charges have been instituted against 56 local officials and a total amount of damage has amounted to 2.3 million somonis.
