DUSHANBE, October 8, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A roundtable meeting formally titled “Improvement of the Constitutional Legal Proceedings in Tajikistan” will be held in the building of the Constitutional Court in Dushanbe on October 9.
The meeting, staged by the Law Program of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) in cooperation with the Republican Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law, is expected to bring together lawyers and representatives of public associations and international organizations, as well as media to discuss ways to promote implementation of the program of judicial and legal reforms in Tajikistan.
According to the OSI/AF-Tajikistan, the meeting participants will consider issues related to improvement of activities of the Constitutional Court through raising awareness of citizens of amendments made to the RT Law “On the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Tajikistan.”
The meeting is expected to result in adoption of proposals and recommendations on further improvement of mechanism of administration of constitutional justice in the country.
A series of similar meetings have already been held at the regional levels in Khujand, Khorog, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa, the source said.
