DUSHANBE, October 8, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Two drunken men were detained din the Sughd province for killing their wives.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said that the resident of Sughd’s Asht district, Faridoun Mahmadjonov, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication struck his wife, 27-year-old Nargis, with a blunt object. She died of the blunt injury.
The same day, the Khujand resident Ilhom Sharifkhojayev being in a state of alcoholic intoxication bet his wife Anna to death.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mahmadjonov and Sharifkhojayev and investigations are under way, the spokesman said.
