DUSHANBE, October 29, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Three officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in Dushanbe have been detained on suspicion of bribery.
An official source at the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption says Murodali Safarov has applied to the anticorruption agency, saying that three officers from the Dushanbe police department detained him and his friend absolutely unfounded and took 9,000 Russian rubles and 110 somoni from them.
“Moreover, the police officers have accused them of theft and demanded 500 U.S. dollars from them,” the source said.
According to him, the corrupt police officers Mahmadullo Hikmatov, Azizkhouja Khalilov and Nozim Rouziyev were caught red-handed while taking bribe.
Criminal proceedings against the corrupt police officers have been instituted under the provisions of Article 247 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud; an investigation is under way.
