DUSHANBE, May 7, 2015, Asia-Plus – A 47-year-old woman from the Vakhsh district of Khatlon province has been arrested for selling her newborn baby.
According to the Interior Ministry press center, she was arrested on May 6. The woman who has the previous conviction for theft (Article 244 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code) sold her newborn son to a resident of the city of Qurghon Teppa for 2,000 somoni right in the maternity department of local hospital on April 19.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
