DUSHANBE, November 27, 2015, Asia-Plus – Ex-head of the Dushanbe capital construction department, Saidashraf Anvarov, who was fired two months ago, has been detained by officers of the anticorruption agency on suspicion of involvement in large-scale transactions.
Anvarov is reportedly suspected of involvement in corruption crimes committed during construction of a number of large facilities in the city, including the Poytakht-90 Medical Center.
The center with a total of 650 beds and a polyclinic that can handle 800 visitors per shift is located in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district between the Republican Diagnostic Center and the Sultoni Kabir Market. It was finished in early May this year and it is expected to officially open next month. A total cost of this project is more than 554 million somoni.
This year, the Dushanbe mayor’s office has reportedly earmarked 554.3 million somoni for construction of various facilities in the city and 354 million have been drawn through the Dushanbe capital construction department.
