In Sogd area were sentenced nine residents - active members of the banned extremist party "Hizb-ut-Tahrir". All of them are sentenced to terms ranging from 3.5 to 13 years imprisonment in a penal colony.
On Thursday in the jail building №1in Khujand has concluded the consideration of litigation against members of the banned extremist party "Hizb-ut-Tahrir", who are in the age from 30 to 50 years.
As reported the presiding on this process judge of Khujand`s city court Nabizoda Nargis, the court found them guilty of art.187 part 2 (Organization of a criminal association (criminal organization), participation in a criminal association (criminal organization) or in an association of organizers, leaders or other representatives of organized groups); 307, approx 3, part 1 (Organization of an extremist organization. The organization of political parties, public or religious association or other organization in relation to which the court accepted an inured decision to liquidate or ban their activities in relation with the extremist activity); 307, approx 2, part 1 (Organization of an extremist community. The creation of an extremist community) of the Criminal Code.
The judge has noted that they were detained by the National Security Committee and the Prosecutor''s Office of Sogd region in April this year.
The "Hizb-ut-Tahrir" party was created in 1952 in Palestine. Its main objective is to overthrow the constitutional orders in the Muslim countries and the creation of a caliphate. In many countries it is recognized as a terrorist organization.
In Tajikistan "Hizb-ut-Tahrir" activities was banned in 2001. In 2008 the party was joined in the list of extremist organizations and their activists are prosecuting by law.
