DUSHANBE, July 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – A drug peddler has got a lengthy jail term.
A regional court in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) sentenced Anvar Imronshoyev, a resident of Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan to eight years in prison on July 2.
According to the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), Imronshoyev, who is also known under the nickname “Khirs” (the Bear), was detained in March this year on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking.
He was reportedly one of the main suppliers of narcotics to Khorog.
While searching his house, security officers found 61 wraps of heroin, the source said, noting that Imronshoyev was detained following applications by residents of Khorog, “first of all mothers whose sons became drug addicts.”
